We’re fortunate enough to have ideal dog training ground in our area, with a number of local and commercial shoots providing opportunities to test the dogs in various environments.
The local marsh is perfect for water work, the heather and bracken on the fells tests the strongest hunting spaniels and our family syndicate shoot ensures they are exposed to game throughout their training. Our dogs are expected to participate in everything from walked up shooting, sitting on a peg and more recently field trials.
Amberquest, our kennel name/affix, was inspired by our first cocker Amber and the action or pattern in which spaniels are expected to hunt.
There’s nothing better than the sight of a spaniel ‘questing’ on the scent of a woodcock or pheasant at full tilt in front of you, thumb on the safety catch in anticipation of the flush.
We occasionally breed for our own purposes and will in the future have puppies available to working and trialing homes. We hope you find our site interesting as we continue to add to it, keep an eye on our news page where we’ll be documenting the progress of our dogs.
